COLLECTORS HOUSE

This Collector’s house was designed to exhibit a collection of umbrellas. A canopy of colourful umbrellas flow in a path within an open exhibition area that then leads to the living space connected by a long bridge.
The ground consists of many layers that create an amphitheater like space. It is open, spacious and diverse. Over sized steps on the side create a dramatic entrance into the Collector’s house.
The exhibition area of the house was designed to be open to the outside elements with an open roof and unenclosed walls. The collection weaves throughout the space with a mimicking weaving floor below. This flooring allows for people to flow with the umbrellas and follow the path that they create. The path leads through to the final room that is filled with the collection. It creates an exciting space that people can move around in and enjoy themselves. It is a new space that they have never experienced before.
A large framed bridge connects the two parts of the building and continues the collection. It’s over extended feel and look creates another dimension of drama. The living space is simple with a split level that leads to the bedroom.
