Throughout this live project I designed an installation to be exhibited in the annual BEAMS Arts Festival held in Chippendale. This year the theme of ‘spirit’ influenced each piece. The beautiful lotus flower is a symbol of patience, eloquence and compassion within many cultures around the world. The spirit of these cultures emerges from the flower as it opens. Lights begin to “float” out of the lotus flower which is also reflected by mirrors. With interaction encouraged, the individual looking at the floating lights can also see their own reflection within the mirrors and therefore seeing their own spirit within the flower. 
The installation was made out of paper, wire and wood for support. With the combination of solar lighting and battery powered lighting the effect of spirit came to life.
